Concerns
Crows Feet
Crow’s feet are the wrinkles that appear around the outer corners of the eyes. They are caused by repetitive facial expressions, such as smiling or squinting.
As we age, the skin naturally loses elasticity and collagen. We also lose some volume in the deeper tissues. The muscle around the eyes therefore become less opposed, resulting in bunching of skin around the eyes when we smile. Repeated skin bunching of thinner, dry skin results in the formation of static lines in the wrinkles. The depth and visibility of these wrinkles and lines vary from person to person.
effects of
aging
Exposure to the sun’s harmful UV rays can also contribute to the formation of Crow’s feet. The delicate skin around the eyes is particularly vulnerable to sun damage, which can lead to the breakdown of collagen and the development of wrinkles.
It is important to note that while crow’s feet are, in part, a natural outcome of the ageing process, there are treatments available to address these concerns. These can include injectables such as BOTOX, Polynucleotides or dermal fillers. A bespoke skincare routine aimed at improving the appearance of crow’s feet is also recommended.
