Concerns
Crepe Skin
Crepey skin refers to skin that has a thin, wrinkled texture. It’s characterised by fine lines, wrinkles, and a crinkled appearance. It’s often more noticeable on areas of the body that have thinner skin, such as the inner arms, knees, and under the eyes. It can also be seen on the neck and chest.

It’s caused by a combination of factors, including ageing and a loss of elasticity of the skin. Prolonged exposure to the sun’s harmful UV rays can also accelerate the breakdown of collagen and elastin in the skin, leading to premature ageing sun damage. Dry and dehydrated skin, resulting from loss of our own hyaluronic acid can exacerbate the appearance of crepey skin.

Treatment
Treatment options for crepey skin include treatment which aim to restore collagen and hyaluronic acid into the skin. For collagen, these treatments include retinol-based products, collagen-boosting treatments and procedures such as micro-needling or radiofrequency skin tightening. For hyaluronic acid, SKINVIVE and Profhilo treatments are great. The Mayfield Clinic by Dr Nestor can advise on the best treatment to suit your needs during a skin health consultation.
